Heeding God’s Word – Part VIII

Over the course of a series of blogs we are outlining two reasons why heeding the Bible is going to be at the foundation of our life together as a church.  From our previous blogs we saw that the first reason was that the Bible is at the foundation of our life together because it is God’s word.  In this blog we will continue to outline the second reason…because the Bible is trustworthy and true.

The difference the truth makes…to life now as God’s saved people…
From Psalm 119 I have picked out 9 differences having this trustworthy and true word of God at the foundation of our life together as a church will make.  We will look at 1 each day over 9 days…

3 – Hearing and Heeding God’s word leads a life where we remain Learners not experts of God’s word
What I love about Psalm 119 is that it is clear the Psalmist is a heavy hitter when it comes to God’s word…verse 97…all day long he meditates on God’s word

All day!!  I struggle with half an hour, and yet for all his meditating, he prays again and again in the Psalm that God would teach him his word that he would understand.
·      One who knows God’s word is his faithful promise of eternal rescue… knows that the absolute best way to live is as a learner of that word…
o   The more you learn from this word…the more you are taught by God of his grace (in all its truth) – Colossians 1.6

o   And the more you fill you mind with the things of this word…the things Philippians 4 describes as…true …noble …right …pure …lovely … admirable…excellent…praiseworthy…the more you’ll live life to the full…
